Adwords in France - Well, no kidding

Going through my RSS reader feeds this afternoon (Newsgator for Outlook) the following headline jumped out at me from about a zillion posts:

GOOGLE MAY APPEAL TRADEMARK DECISION

So, just in case any of you missed it – Google may appeal a Paris court’s decision that ordered Google to pay 200,000 euros ($260,000) plus costs to luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton for breach of trademark   This is another decision that came down late last week and which found Google’s selling of the mark “Louis Vuitton” as part of its Adwords services.  According to the article, Google is weighing its options on whether it will appeal.

Now – from a strictly nit-picky point of view – does anyone read that headline and think “Wow! I just gotta read that article.”

Digg!

The headline is lousy allright - as well as many comments from people (including journalists) who obviously did not read these recent decisions of French courts on sponsored links.

The Vuitton / Google judgment is available on Juriscom.net :

The other French Courts decisions on sponsored links and TM infringement are available on this site (see the links at the bottom of the page).

Juriscom also features English articles on this topic, including a translation of the Meridien / Google court order : http://www.juriscom.net/jpt/visu.php?ID=631

and a short comment by MM. Hugot on the Meridien / Google decision : http://www.juriscom.net/pro/visu.php?ID=638
