TRADEMARK STORM CLOUDS A'GATHERING
According to NOLA.com (New Orleans News), Virginia-based Media General Communications -- claiming that it owns the trademark to "Storm Team" -- is demanding that Lafayette, Louisiana television station KATC Channel 3 either stop using the label "Storm Team" to identify its weather crew or pay for the privilege. KATC filed a federal lawsuit in response -- arguing that it had been using the term at least as long as Media General and that the term "storm team" was descriptive and was used extensively by other news organizations.
